"If you wanna feel funky, feel free, but please don't spill that funk on me"

Oh, you’re going to tell me what i’m not ready for?

One of the most frustrating things in the world is having someone tell you who or what you are not ready for. In the hip hop world it is an often used ad-lib “oh yall aint ready for me” but in real life situations it is both frustrating as well as motivating.

Over my life I can remember vividly times where someone has worked to convince me that i’m not ready. A mentor telling me that I don’t have enough experience, a coach telling me I don’t look like a tennis player or a girl saying I’m not ready to settle down. Sometime ago I jumped the shark and realized life is about living how you want and being who you want and being intentional to the things, thoughts, feelings and expressions that are part of what makes you tick. Therefore if I am at it, I am ready for it, being intentional is not just about being “ready” for all situations but its about living a life that is ready for the changes, opportunities that come with life. Another person can’t decide your essence for you, so live, work, love, and do - because no one else can tell you what your life experiences and your internal drive have prepared you for. They can only watch you do it and wait and hope you don’t say “I told you so…..”
