Deck in DC

MYBprofile: The DECKER Edition (Washington, DC).
Okay so you know how if a table had its legs pull out from under it, it would fall completely to the ground, bringing all the glassware, plates and silverware crashing down to the ground in a dramatic, shocking and frightening fashion? If Decker weren’t in my life I would be that table all broken and shattered on the ground. Got it?
Decker and I go all the way back to 3rd grade and every year he becomes more near, dear, and necessary to my general existence. Calling the man a go-getter is a MASSIVE understatement. He’s one of those people who is going places. Constantly. He’s always onto this project or the next, connecting with this person or another, successfully hitting everything out of the park that comes his way. He’s big time. And only getting bigger by the minute.
Except recently, he’s been getting smaller, leaner and more fit by the minute. He’s getting stronger by the minute. Faster by the minute. And all around healthier by the minute. So I’m psyched for him to contribute to MYB! Here’s to his first post and more to come!

BROTHA on the RUN: My Fitness Journey
CHAPTER 1: More Than a Race
This past year I completed a half marathon, yes a half marathon!! This big brotha ran for 13.1 miles without stopping (maybe stopped a couple times for water) in 2hrs and 16 minutes. I have a goal this year to complete a full marathon but I am also amped to launch my 30th year with a renewed sense of personal health and transformation. I am not in this to just lose weight but to live a better life and my personal fitness and activity will hopefully be an extension.
As a black male, this fitness thing means a lot more, it is about changing the culture of many of my friends to not just workout to get “swole” but to live better and longer. Diabetes, High Blood pressure, Heart Disease, and other health issues continue to plague black males. I hope being more vocal with my health goals and challenges will inspire any brothas out there to get up and Move their Booty!
Hope you enjoy my updates and pics and thanks MYB for the opportunity to share!
